Where did April go?

It's hard to believe it's already May!

Just a quick update.

PH and I started April in Maui. We loved the beaches and the snorkeling was fantastic. We were very thankful for the ride over and back from my company (especially since 2 companies flying to Hawaii went out of business during this time). We were thankful that Marriott not only gave us a free room (they took some reward points for it), but they also gave us a room about 15 feet from the ocean. I love to listen to the ocean--especially all night long!

Both PH and I had a bug of some sort in April. I was in bed several days--didn't feel like reading, so I did something I rarely do--watched television. I watched HGTV a lot--I suppose it might be because our house in an ongoing project and I need ideas as to what I should do next. I would really love to have a waterfall wall in our bedroom (they make it look really easy on HGTV) since I am not living on the beach. Then, I could listen to the waterfall all night. I have not talked PH into this yet, but I will continue to try.

I made it to OKC to visit my mom--she's an amazing woman--and we had a great visit. I also got to visit my college roomie--she always encourages me so much. It was a great trip.

We also celebrated PH's birthday--I love to celebrate!

I don't know if it was watching all that HGTV, but since I've been feeling better I've been spring cleaning with a vengeance. I even attacked my attic--and I haven't done that for a while. It feels so good to get things organized--so I continue to push along while I am in the mood. I know from experience it's likely to go away--so I want to get all I can done while I can.

I guess it really is May 1?

Thursday Thanksgiving

Several good friends this week have shared with me that God had convicted them they need to have more grateful hearts. My first reaction was very self-righteous--despite my efforts to get them to read my blog--most of my friends still have no idea what a blog is--so they don't know I do a list most every Thursday.

As I listened to each of them--I have been convicted--there's so much in my life lately I've not been thankful for--and God is calling me to bring my thankful heart to a new level. I am just so thankful that God uses our friends to convict on things like this!

One of my co-workers told me, "I've not been thankful for my job and I need to be." I can join her on that one. I am thankful for what my job allows me to do (like hop on planes to Hawaii and get sand in my ears). Our jobs, however, are stressful, gut-wrenching and exhausting. I know God wouldn't put me through all that for no reason--and I try to be thankful for the lessons He teaches me--but I am not always. I want to be thankful that sometimes He just uses me there to reach out to people that have some pretty desperate life problems. I want to be thankful I have a job--so many people don't have jobs with our declining economy.

There are some other things in my life that aren't easy--I want to be thankful and trust God in is His faithfulness and sovereignty has plans I can't see--can't understand right now.

I am thankful this week for all the encouragement I've had to be more thankful. It's the encouragement I've needed. Gratefulness changes my perspective so much--a little bit of thankfulness is good--but I pray my thankful heart will be so overflowing it will bless those around me just a wee bit, too!

Today I am thankful:

I can get up in the morning and drink a strong cup of decaf.

I can read my Bible for as long as I like (depending on how early I got up).

I can hear God speak to me.

I can putter around a nice house in my pj's.

I have an incredible family.

I have the best friends.

I have a job with great benefits.

I can pray for God to use me however He chooses.

I can go for walks and see and hear a beautiful creation.

I have good health.

I know God is with me wherever I go.

I have plenty to eat (most of the time too much to eat).

I know God is taking care of me all the time.

Thursday Thanksgiving

I am thankful for days off to just chill--I think I am finally letting go of a lot of the stress of the last few months! I am thankful I can see so many miracles from God in my life and in the world around me. I am thankful God's glory shines out of cracked pots and encourages me. I am thankful for the abundance of God in my life! I am thankful He's always there for me!

Thursday Thanksgiving

I am thankful for my INCREDIBLE family--PH (who truly is the best honeee ever) Aug, Aggie-ed, Critter and Mr. Wonderful! I am a totally blessed woman over and over.

I am thankful for four relaxing days with Aggie-ed in Oregon. Oregon really rocks!

I am thankful for time to catch up. (I was so behind, I just took down Valentine Day decorations yesterday)

I am thankful that God is patient with me as He is teaching me some really hard things right now (they've been really hard for me--they would probably be easy ones for you)

I am thankful that God is always, always with me.

I am thankful God sends encouragement when He knows I need it.

I am thankful for warm days so that I can go barefoot again!

My Second Favorite Vacation Destination

I've been on the central Oregon coast with Aggie-ed. This is his last spring break!

We'd been to this part of Oregon once before--one of our favorite places, so decided to go back. Oregon is my second favorite place to vacation.

It was so good to be able to sleep because I was so relaxed. I have been mostly sleeping because I was so exhausted lately. What a treat to sleep with the ocean roaring just few feet away!
